Ben has been teaching our two boys for many (8?) years and they have both progressed through their grades without any fails. As important though is that Ben makes it fun, is happy to adapt to their interests and will happily help them play songs they’re interested in alongside the grade work. I started ukulele lessons with Ben just over a year ago. I’d been playing for a year in ukulele groups but wanted to try to progress my knowledge and skills. With Ben’s excellent tuition, I’ve passed ukulele Grades 3 and 4 and I’m now working on Grade 5. Ben makes lessons fun as well as informative, always willing to listen to suggestions for songs, correcting technique and giving feedback in a supportive way. I’ve just started guitar lessons with him too and have already made lots of progress. I’d therefore highly recommend Ben to anyone wanting to learn an instrument in a patient, clear and fun way.

Ben has been a godsend for our son -who took up music from scratch half way through nat 5's and knew very little about how to play a guitar. He has brought him on so much and to a point where our son is much more confident and able, and enjoys going. Ben is really committed and goes out his way to ensure that our son is well equipped for music at school. Each week he sends a review of the lesson and a practice plan. I wouldn't hestiate to recommend him to anyone whether looking for help through music at school or as an interest/hobby.

I gave Ben the mission of trying to make me sound cool on the guitar. To me, learning a song is a journey like crossing a bridge – on one side you don’t know how to play it and on the other you do. Ben will guide you across but in doing so will take the chance teach you how the bridge is structured and how it is built. The theory! You learn a few more songs and then, all of a sudden, you think, hey! I have crossed a bridge like this before! You know the design and the structure. Eventually you stand at the bridge and think – hey! I can work how to cross this (I need a pen and paper and a bit of time but – I can do it!) Eventually someone you are playing with starts a jam by calling out a key and you know how it all works and hangs together and you can jam along with them and just how cool is that! Just to put my comments in a in bit of context – I am old enough to remember the Beatles singles coming out (and how cool were they!) – Ben is pretty cool with pupils my age too. Mission accomplished…Cool all round really…

Ben at Inspired Sounds is a highly professional music teacher with years of experience. He gears his teaching towards the London School of Music syllabus which gives an excellent grounding in Ukulele techniques such as strumming, finger picking and melodies. He has been my tutor for a year and a half and I feel that I now have a good grasp of chord shapes and playing melodies using tabs. He also introduced some theory which I found very interesting as I had no background in music and I'm now able to apply that to learning other instruments as well as the Ukulele. Ben is very patient and takes time to explain any issues you may be having. He likes to teach songs that you like and is always open to your own ideas and what you would like to play. He makes excellent use of online materials and Accompaniments for every lesson. Tutorials can take place in his new, custom built studio or by Zoom. I highly recommend Ben as an inspired teacher and musician.

My 8 yrs old son has had guitar lessons with Ben for more than a year now and has made remarkable progress for this short period of time, currently on Grade3-4 and had played twice in his school concert. This would not be possible without Ben’s great tuition. My 6 yrs daughter has also started learning bass with Ben. Ben is very patient with young learners and provides tailored materials that keep the kids engaged while ensuring they have good fundamentals. He also gives helpful advice about music gears. Whether your child is a complete beginner or looking to improve, I couldn’t recommend this teacher enough.

Thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Ben. Took me out of my comfort zone on a few occasions but that was a good thing as it made me learn things that I would normally not have encountered. All in all it was well worth the time and expense to spend time with someone who guides you in a certain direction but is also sympathetic to your own areas of music. I am an older player and If it wasn't for my arthritis giving me issues I would still be attending lessons. Give Ben a go, it'll definitely improve your playing and knowledge of music.
