This class was so much fun. And luckily, it was very close to our hotel (Hotel Gaudi). The instructions were clear and being hands-on, made it easier to remember how to prepare the ingredients. I don't care for seafood so was able to choose chicken instead. And of course, the sangria made it even more fun! Even a cake for dessert. I definitely recommend this.
Bebe and Alberto were great hosts! We had so much fun meeting new people, exploring La Boqueria, and cooking our first Paella! Our hosts were patient and fun. They had tapas ready for us while we made our own sangria. We cooked chicken and seafood Paella as well as made a delicious almond cake. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to experience Barcelona!
Bueno Catalonian Culinary Experience
Had such a great experience and wanted to share this review of the Paella cooking class my wife Denise and I experienced during our recent visit to Barcelona. It was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. We enjoyed a unique and engaging afternoon in our itinerary that was both educational and enjoyable, and we truly appreciated the creative and student centric way in which the class was delivered.A shout out to our host, Chef Nestor, for making the session so memorable. Nestor’s warmth, expertise, and passion for Spanish cuisine created an inviting atmosphere that made learning fun and interactive. Every step of the process from our stroll through the market to pick out the best ingredients to our final mixing of the flavorful caramelized dish was explained with clarity and enthusiasm, which added to the overall enjoyment.Delight to get to know our fellow attendee, Doc Liberty, which was an unexpected pleasure and added to our experience. Great add to be able to connect with others who share our love for food and culture made our experience even more memorable. We did not know what to expect going into the class however it exceeded our expectations, and hence we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable culinary adventure while venturing forth in Barcelona.
Andreas was amazing!!
We had an amazing, instructional and entertaining cooking class with Andreas. Never knew how easy it was to make sangria. How incredibly encouraging Andreas was with his attitude and his genuine warmth and love of his work. If you have an opportunity to take this wonderful class don't miss it.! Thank you thank you thank you
Excellent activity! Delicious food! Wonderful Sangria.
We had a great time with Gastronomy Arts Paella cooking class. Nestor was an excellent host and chef! We wanted to make sure we signed up for a class that lets you actually do the cooking. So much fun… never cleaned and prepped a squid before, for the calamari. Nestor was very specific, encouraging, funny, and helped us all. We were instructed on how to make sangria after given the ingredients at our table. Yum! For those who don’t like seafood ( or have an allergy) they can accommodate a chicken or veggie paella in addition to the seafood. We did an evening class, and it was a Monday night… so the actual fish market stalls at the Mercado are closed on Monday evenings, so Nestor had pre bought our ingredients. Nevertheless, we had nice brief walk through the Mercado. I highly recommend Gastronomy Arts Paella class!
Wonderful experience!
We had a wonderful time and Hugo was great. Went to the market and purchased the fresh ingredients for our paella. Came back to mix sangria and have tapas before preparing the ingredients for the paella. Cooking as a group, we prepared and assembled dinner, and while it cooked enjoyed more sangria. Dinner was wonderful as was the company. Highly recommend GAB!
A great way to spend time in Barcelona. Alberto led the class and Andrea assisted... we had an interesting visit to the Boqueira Markets to buy the freshest seafood for the paella we made. Delicious & fun as was the Sangia we also made. A good group of fellow travellers. Excellent food, great people... will definitely do more classes when I return.
Birthday Paella and Sangria
My sister and I visited Barcelona for her birthday and decided to take this paella cooking class. We enjoyed ourselves so much and the group was small enough for everyone to be active in the finished product (which was delicious). 1st we tried tapas prepared by the chef and then got to compare the sangria we made in class with the pre-made sangria. We were able to sip on our sangria as we prepared the paella from scratch. We also made an Almond cake for dessert. The instructors were not only very courteous, but very knowledgeable in providing us some history and safety tips for making our own paella and sangria. We finished it off with a cream liquor that tasted like a mix of eggnog and pumpkin spice (heaven). This was such an enjoyable experience. A definite must try.
