Our health center began our journey with Coleman Associates in early 2022. Our goal as an organization was to provide more efficient processes for our teams, leading to an improved employee and patient experience. In addition to focusing on the dramatic performance improvement (DPI) process in our clinics, our leaders also participated in the High Impact Management Program (HIMP) ensuring they had the tools to successfully lead and engage staff through the changes.
DPI really empowered our front-line staff to help lead change and improvements in their areas. Who better to lead this work than those who truly own it! It has been a great experience working with the Coleman team. The training, tools, and ongoing support were key in the success in us achieving our goals. We have been able to utilize the knowledge gained throughout this work to continued improvement throughout our organization. Coleman continues to offer ways to support us two years later by leading collaborative conversations regularly with health centers who have or are going through the DPI process. A special shout out to the Chispa who has worked closest with our team – Gabe has been amazing!

I have learned so much working with this amazing team of knowledge experts and coaches and our organization has seen impressive results. Coleman's approach is to teach your organization to embrace continuous improvement at all levels and to empower employees to be curious, test new methods, and work together to overcome and eliminate obstacles.
Our care teams, clinic staff and leadership dedicated an incredible amount of time and resources to this initiative. With our Coleman Coaches, we navigated the complexities of this type of major change, always keeping the patient experience at the forefront of the work we do. As a data junkie, seeing our organization systematically collect, evaluate, and use data to drive action is where the real magic happens. We use data in all things. To celebrate the wins, identify bright spots, signal where there may be issues or additional support needed, and ultimately to sustain the work and ensure that our patients continue to receive impressive care.
At the start of our journey with Coleman we set bold, audacious goals around cycle time (patient toes in to toes out of the clinic), missed opportunities (no appointment goes unused), patients per hour, and same day chart completion. These stretch goals seemed almost impossible when we set them, but now, two years later, we are consistently meeting and exceeding them. So much so, that we are working on setting that next set of goals!
Coleman provided an amazing learning environment; always available to listen, coach, challenge, and ultimately provide us the tools we need to adapt to the complexities that is health care today. I feel confident that 5 years or even 10 years from now our organization will still be using the knowledge and skills we’ve learned from our Coleman coaches.
